∇ Austin, Texas
Austin gets its very own Scandinavian moment at Gardner in Austin, Texas. The stunningly designed space, with concrete floors, custom woodwork, and glowing lights, is a great change from the city’s barbecue shacks. A meal at Gardner truly feels like a special night out. Most of the menu is vegetable driven but the ribeye was one of the beefiest, most delicious pieces of meat you could ever eat. After all, the restaurant is still located in Texas. A few must try plates on the menu are: rye English muffin with sprouted-grain butter; cucumber with zucchini, potato, and Norweigan brown cheese; ribeye with potato, cheddar, and grains of paradise. And you can’t beat Gardner’s happy hour where you get $2 off of appetizers, wines and craft beers.
