∇ Savannah, Georgia

A restored 1930s Greyhound station is now Savannah’s hub for new twists on Low Country cuisine. The chef of The Grey, Mashama Bailey, who has roots in Savannah, gives Low Country fare a worldly education, intertwining squid with shelling beans, clams with dumplings, and catfish with preserved lemon. Restaurant goers love “The Yard,” the Grey’s giant patio that serves casual weekend lunches, like barbecue chicken and baked beans, with occasional live music. What to order: the oysters, pan-roasted squid with shelling beans, Sizzling Smoky Pig, or smoked collards.
